The Catford House is a newly refurbished pub and community kitchen run by GCDA. The oldest surviving building in Catford was revitalised by Hayatsu Architects as part of Lewisham Council’s town centre regeneration. Led by architect Takeshi Hayatsu, the Open House tour explores the building’s repair, exposed structure and adaptation for community use.

The Catford House is a public house and community kitchen revitalised through a series of careful interventions by Hayatsu Architects, commissioned by Lewisham Council as part of a wider town centre regeneration scheme led by Turner Works. Formerly open until 2019 as the Catford Constitutional Club, the building has at its core a locally-listed Georgian farmhouse dating from 1736, Catford’s oldest extant building. The project involved sensitive restoration, introducing new timber structure to stabilise and make accessible the cordoned-off Georgian section, threading new services through the historic fabric, and creating new public realm connections to future mixed-use developments.
